This morning the sun was shining and a cool breeze caused the laundry to dance on the clothesline the way only freshly washed clothes can. With the task completed I turned away from the drying laundry and moved onto the next weekend task. Now, hours later, I sit in my home office and as I look out the window, wonder if I should be prepared to rush outside and bring in the, what I am sure is now, my partly dry laundry. Instead though I look at the clouds and try to determine if they are actually rain producing. Let’s be serious, I am not the Emergency Manager in the family and I have no idea of how to read the sky. However, I am sitting at my computer and decide to google my way to some improved knowledge.
First off, I googled “types of clouds” and as soon as I push the search button a number of cloud pictures show up. Hmmmmmm. After much clicking, I think the clouds are cumulus and I am confident in my clothes remaining dry until I finish what I am doing.
Half an hour later though when I look back outside there seems to be a lot more clouds and they don’t look quite as fluffy and white and the blue sky has disappeared. What is someone to do? Should I bring the laundry in or investigate again. Downstairs is a long way down and if it isn’t necessary, I could finish my work first…… so I return to google.
This time I guess that the clouds are transforming to Cumulonimbus clouds and predict rain is on its way. Finally determining that my laundry is about to be rained upon I saunter downstairs to find I am too late. The rain has started and my laundry is getting an additional rinse courtesy of Mother Nature. Needless to say I hope it is sunny tomorrow.
Moral of this story don’t prepare to educate yourself, educate yourself so you can be prepared.
